Unique solutions for Individual Wells
No two wells are exactly alike. Unfortunately, traditional measurements that can identify and measure the inherent variability in rock and reservoir properties from well to well require the expenditure of time and capital – both of which are sometimes in limited supply. Geoscientists and engineers are often forced to rely on “nearby” data to make decisions, which can lead to unpredictable results. A solution that fits today’s fast-paced and cost-conscious oil and gas industry while delivering the necessary information to make wise completion decisions is now available.
The key to maximizing the estimated oil recovery (EOR) regardless of the basin or reservoir is understanding the rock. At Drill2Frac, we use drilling performance data to develop rock property information with our OmniLog™ lateral profile. The OmniLog presentation identifies rock property heterogeneity that, when considered in completion design, can enhance stimulation effectiveness in horizontal wells. Combined with our PerfAct™ completion design and analysis engine, OmniLog data can be used to re-define stage spacing, propose alternative perforation designs, identify where diverters will be most effective, and evaluate production from existing wells.
The unique solution provided by Drill2Frac uses multiple scientific methods and data that already exists. There is no need to run additional tools or measuring instruments. All of the information needed comes from data routinely acquired during daily drilling operations. The OmniLog workflow provides an accurate portrayal of key geomechanical properties along the wellbore at a fraction of the cost of traditional wireline or MWD logs. A stage-by-stage completion tailored to the rock at each point in the lateral, based on the OmniLog results, can improve stimulation efficiency and ultimately, well performance – all at reasonable cost.
Because drilling data is archived after the rig moves on to the next well, it is possible to review existing wells that have no other measurements in the lateral by accessing the drilling data and generating the OmniLog profile for that well. The PerfAct engine can then be used to evaluate the completion in place to determine overall stimulation effectiveness and the potential for re-stimulation.
The OmniLog lateral profile uses drilling and other existing data to provide a well log of rock heterogeneity along the wellbore. The system uses a proprietary six-step process to refine the collected data and create an accurate log of rock properties that can be used stand-alone, or as input into the PerfAct applications. OmniLog results can be combined with other measurements such as Gamma Ray, mud logs, gas detector data, and mass spectroscopy results.
The PerfAct calculation engine uses OmniLog profiles and other well data to provide a holistic solution to optimize perforation placement, diversion design, restimulation candidate selection, and stage selection. Up to 18 different parameters can be used within the PerfAct engine. The parameters used and their relative weighting can be adjusted based on client needs and the unique characteristics of each reservoir.
